Wine stories… and vineyard tales. In Albana (Udine), the Motherland of Schioppettino and Picolit D.O.C.G.
Vigna Petrussa is located in Albana, within the municipality of Prepotto, the homeland of Schioppettino. Since 1995, it has been managed by Hilde Petrussa, who has favored the cultivation of native grape varieties using traditional methods, while also employing innovative techniques that respect the environment and the land.
The hills surrounding the Judrio valley create a natural amphitheater. The area is exposed to air currents that make it particularly dry, with significant temperature variations, which facilitate the development of aromas in the grapes. The terrain of Eocene marl (ponka) crumbles under the action of the sun and rain, thus enriching the soil with salts and microelements.
The quality of the wines is guaranteed by strict vineyard management, thinning of the clusters on the vines, manual harvesting of the grapes at the moment of full and balanced ripeness, and, for the Picolit, by partial drying in a fruit drying room.
Over the years, the wines of Vigna Petrussa have received numerous awards and reviews from juries and publications both in Italy and internationally.
